Answers

1 What size Liquid Shredder surfboard do I need?
There are many Liquid Shredder board lengths and styles to choose from and matching the surfers weight and skill level are very important. You should refer to the "Choose your board" chart attached to all Liquid Shredder surfboards or available online - Click here.

2 Why is a Liquid Shredder surfboard my best choice as a beginner?
Firstly, it's a real surfboard but with a softer surface to make it more user friendly. Plus, it looks just like a shiny fibreglass board, but is more bouyant - so its easier to catch waves and stand up. Most beginner boards are very poorly shaped. This effects the way they perform in the water, making them hard to turn. Surfing is ALL about maneuvering and turning on the wave. Poorly shaped boards simply won't turn well - but a Liquid Shredder will (check out some of the videos)!!!
Secondly, an original Liquid Shredder surfboard has a full length solid South American hard wood stringer for strength. A surfboard should be rigid and not flex too much. Many of the traditional "sponge" beginner boards flop up and down in the middle as the surfer walks on them. This slows the board and makes for an unstable platform for the surfer to stand on. Additionally, boards with weak stringers break easily.

3 I already surf. Will a Liquid Shredder work for me?
Yes! The shape, rails and rocker of a Liquid Shredder are just like fibreglass surfboards. The weight of Liquid Shredder is nearly identical to the same length and shape standard board. This is the ONLY soft surfboard that looks just like a real fibreglass board. It has a smooth shiny surface on both the deck and the bottom. Carrying it down the beach or in the water no one can tell you're on a soft board.

4 Can the skin of a Liquid Shredder become unglued?
Great question. The skin of a Liquid Shredder is not glued so it can't become unglued (delaminate). The Patented manufacturing process shrinks the Aircraft Quality Vinyl skin tightly over the board's closed cell foam blank without glue or any lamination process. This allows the skin and internal foam to move and expand separately and not tear or de-laminate.
When other plastics, like EPS foam and PE materials used in traditional "sponge" soft boards, are glued or heat laminated they expand at different rates in the heat of the sun. This difference in expansion rates causes de-lamination and tearing of materials in the old technology "sponge" boards. Plus, Liquid Shredder's vinyl skin looks just like fibreglass only softer.

5 My friend bought one of those "sponge" boards, it got real heavy from sucking up water. Does that happen to Liquid Shredders?
The Aircraft Quality Vinyl skin of a Shredder is waterproof and looks just like fibreglass only softer. The fins are sealed by rubber "through hull" fittings to resist leakage. In addition, the closed cell foam inside resists water absorption so, in the remote chance any gets in, you simply drain it out through the provided drain screw.
Sponge boards absorb water the entire time you are using them and very little ever comes out of the foam. They gain weight and, as a result, lose their already limited performance.

6 Do I wax my new Liquid Shredder surfboard?
Yes! Just like a fibreglass board, you can apply standard surfboard wax. You can also apply deck grips such as those on the "Accessories" page.

7 Are there any basic instructions for taking care of my Liquid Shredder surfboard?
Yes, every Liquid Shredder surfboard comes with an instruction sheet on the back of the cool surfing poster that is attached to the board. If you lost it or threw it away, click here for the instruction sheet.

8 I've had some lessons and am getting pretty good at surfing, what can I do to improve my Liquid Shredder's performance on the waves?
First, consider adding one of our Pro Fins to the center position of your Liquid Shredder. This will help you make tighter and faster turns. Keep in mind a Pro Fin is sharper and not as safe as a standard fin.
Second, if you really get good at surfing, replace all three standard fins with Pro Fins.

9 Sometimes I can see a little air under the vinyl of my Shredder's deck. Is this normal?
Yes, since the Aircraft Vinyl skin of your Liquid Shredder is not laminated or glued to the foam blank, the air in it can expand a little. You can vent out this hot expanded air by following the steps on this venting instructions link. This helps keep it light and long lasting.
Because the skin is not laminated it cannot delaminate and fall apart like many of the old technology "sponge" type boards. Plus, it looks just like a fibreglass board only softer.

10 My fin screws get hard to turn before the fin gets tight on the board. What's wrong?
First, don't force them, they may break off. Your screws are too long for the position on the board. If you dumped them out you need to put them back in the right hole. Keep in mind the longer screws go in the thickest part of the board.
Screws can be cut to make them shorter BUT... make certain you don't cut off the long ones just to get them into a shallow hole. You won't have screws long enough for the deep holes if you cut them when they are just in the wrong place.
(See Fin Installation Guide in maintenance for more information).

As you know I have several of your new boards for my surf school UCANSURF on the South Coast NSW. I have had some very good surfers, in some not very nice conditions and some beginners in small conditions use your boards and have nothing but rave reports. I have used the 7 5 and 8 2 on 7 foot faces and they both performed very well. The boards are fast across the water and turn exceptionally well. ...  Tony Chapman, UCANSURF
